A custom length grab handle is made to suit the distance between your mounting points and the amount of room you want around your hand.
This helps when:

How do you measure for a custom grab handle?
Measure from the centre of one mounting hole to the centre of the other mounting hole.
Then add around 3 to 5 cm for hand clearance.
Example:
Your mounting holes measure 18 cm from centre to centre. A finished length of around 21 to 24 cm should give your hand enough room.
