What the factory handles are like
Hilux factory grab handles are moulded plastic mounted on the A pillars. They're fine around town, but on corrugations, rocky climbs or beach tracks they're hard on the hand and don't give passengers much to actually hold onto. After a few years in the sun the plastic can also start to fade or feel brittle.
Fitment
Hilux uses screw mounted grab handles, so a replacement bolts straight into the existing factory holes with the same fixings. No drilling or modification needed. Most Hilux owners land on 24cm for the pillar mounts, though this can vary slightly between generations and trim levels, so measuring first is still the right move rather than assuming.
Pop the cover off your factory handle, measure centre of mounting hole to centre of mounting hole, then add four to five centimetres for hand clearance. Full method in our measuring guide.
Colour matching your Hilux
